"OK, let me get this straight." Sokka said, rubbing his forehead. "These two girls, from the Fire Nation, that have tried to kill us on multiple occasions..... want to join us?"

"Bingo genius." Mai replied, crossing her arms across her chest.

"And you guys... are all ok with this?" Sokka asked, looking at his friends.

"They did save us, Sokka." Aang said.

"And I know they aren't lying." Toph added.

"Azula abandoned them, and they haven't been involved in the war until now." Katara said. "Why is it so hard to believe that they might want to switch sides?"

"Because.... oh I don't know.... EVERYTHING!!" Sokka yelled, as he paced around. "All they've ever done is try to destroy us, with daggers, and pressure points, and evil plots and..."

"If we say we're sorry, will that help?" Ty Lee asked.

"Couldn't hurt at this point." Toph said.

"Sokka, is the idea of them wanting to change that foreign a concept to you?" Aang said. "You thought I was evil before, and you were wrong."

"Yeah, but you didn't throw darts at my head!" Sokka yelled.

"No, but you thought he signaled the Fire Nation to attack us." Katara countered. "Besides, they want to learn from us."

"Yes, and take what they learn back to the Fire Nation!" Sokka yelled.

"Right. Because there are really spies that have been watching us the whole time, because the Fire Nation was so interested in getting fat." Mai said with a roll of her eyes.

"You see! She admits it!" Sokka yelled.

"Oh for heaven's... Sokka look, we all believe them, and that's going to have to be enough for you." Katara snapped. "Mai, Ty Lee, welcome to the group."

"Sure, but when we're in Fire Nation prison, don't blame me." Sokka muttered, as he turned and started to head back towards Appa.
"Is he always like that?" Mai asked.

"retty much. But you get used to it." Toph said. "Now, let's get you guys started on the road to sumo city."

"It's a good thing we took a lot of the food from Chocaca." Aang said later that night, as he dumped another armful in front of Mai and Ty Lee.

"Apparently." Mai said, looking at the huge pile of candies and cakes. "Did you leave anything for the villagers?"

"Believe me, they have enough." Katara said. "Now start chowing down you two. You've got a lot of work before you get to our level."

"Oh boy, these look great!" Ty Lee said, as she dove into the pile, shoving food into her mouth like a vacuum. Mai, with a disgusted look on her face, simply reached over, grabbed a single cake, and began to eat, slowly and with care.

"Umm... you don't have to be that neat about it." Katara said gently.

"It's food. If I'm gonna get fat, I'm not gonna look like a pig while I'm doing it." Mai said.

"OK." Katara replied, though she glanced over at the piggish and more happy Ty Lee.

"They look like they're doing well." Aang said some time later, as he looked at the sleeping, and bloated forms of Ty Lee and Mai.

"Yes, but take another look." Katara said. Aang did, and saw that while Ty Lee now had a huge, full belly, and her suit was begining to look tight on her fattened form, Mai didn't seem to have gained even half as much.

"Hmm... that is weird."

"Mai just seems really..... quiet. It's like she doesn't know how to indulge herself." Katara said. "She'll never get fatter at this rate."

"Then we'll just have to teach her." Aang said. "Oh, and I was thinking. We should get them some clothes."

"Yes, I.... wait a sec.... Aang, I think I've got an idea."
